Polyamines Lab

Rubén Alcázar Lab | Universitat de Barcelona

Polyamines are small, positively charged organic molecules that are essential for the growth and development of all living organisms, including plants and animals. They are involved in a variety of cellular processes as well as the response to environmental stresses and disease.

Our research aims to better understand the molecular mechanisms underlying the functions of polyamines in plants, and to identify the key mechanisms in these processes. By doing so, we hope to gain insight into how polyamines can be used to improve plant growth and productivity, and to develop new strategies for crop protection.

Our lab uses a variety of techniques, including molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, and plant physiology, to investigate the functions of polyamines in plants. We collaborate with other researchers in the field, both nationally and internationally, and we are always looking for new and exciting research questions to explore.
